Strain

During the day, your body engages in various levels of physical activity, from a leisure walk to a vigorous workout. Genodyne monitors your exertion level by calculating strain.

Recovery

Recovery tells you how ready you are for the day. Your body might need relaxation after a demanding workout the previous day, or it could be in an optimal state for you to push yourself.

Sleep

The quality of your sleep affects your body’s recovery, health, and wellbeing. During sleep, your body undergoes different stages of sleep: awake, light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep.

Strain

During the day, your body engages in various levels of physical activity, from a leisure walk to a vigorous workout. Genodyne monitors your exertion level by calculating strain.

Strain measures the intensity of these activities based on the Borg Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) scale, reflecting how challenging they are for your body. The Borg RPE scores span from 6 to 21, where 6 indicates “no exertion at all,” and 21 signifies an activity involving “maximal exertion.”

Strain reveals the extent of fluctuations in your heart rate, helping you determine whether your body can recover easily from a workout or if you are pushing beyond your normal ability.

Genodyne calculates your strain and heart rate throughout the day as well as for specific workouts. You can compare the current day’s metrics with those of the past 6 days.

You can also track the calories you burn through physical activity, known as active calories, throughout the day.

The fitness band can detect the type of workout you perform when it falls under the following list:

Indoor Walk

Outdoor Walk

Indoor Run

Outdoor Walk

Swimming

Elliptical Machine

Indoor Bike

Rower Machine

Free Training

Otherwise, your workout will be categorised as free training.

On a more specific level, Genodyne provides an overview of your workout performance. With every workout, you get information about the workout’s strain, duration, heart rate, calories burned and more.

For swimming sessions, Genodyne provides details on your average SWOLF, the number of strokes and stroke frequency.

Recovery

Recovery tells you how ready you are for the day. Your body might need relaxation after a demanding workout the previous day, or it could be in an optimal state for you to push yourself. Paying attention to your body is crucial for effective wellness management.

Genodyne provides a recovery score ranging from 1 to 100%, considering various factors such as your heart rate variability (HRV), sleep performance, and resting heart rate (RHR).

HRV, which is the most significant factor, quantifies the changes in time intervals between successive heart beats. It reflects the way the human body reacts to different stressors. Your autonomic nervous system includes two divisions: parasympathetic and sympathetic. The parasympathetic nervous system controls the “rest and digest” functions of the body, in which your body relaxes, and your HRV increases. On the other hand, your sympathetic nervous system is responsible for the “fight or flight” responses, in which your body is stressed, and your HRV decreases.

With Genodyne, you can monitor the changes in your HRV, resting heart rate, and recovery rate. As individual values of these metrics are not sufficiently meaningful, monitoring the changes over time provides you with insights about your body’s recovery and response to various stressors.

Sleep

The quality of your sleep affects your body’s recovery, health, and wellbeing. It is influenced by sleep consistency, duration, time, and other lifestyle habits. During sleep, your body undergoes different stages of sleep: awake, light sleep, deep sleep, and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.

Ideally, a high-quality sleep consists of less time spent awake and in light sleep, and more time spent in REM and deep sleep. REM and deep sleep, which constitute restorative sleep, help your body and mind recover, getting you ready for the day.

Genodyne helps you to track your sleep quality through multiple means. You can check the duration of your sleep, your bedtime and wake-up times, the time you spent in each sleep stage, and your breathing quality. The breathing quality relies on the frequency of snoring; the poorer it is, the more time you spend awake or in light sleep.

Aside from the sleep stages, an irregular bedtime schedule can also be detrimental as it disrupts your circadian rhythm.
